European Dermato-Epidemiology Network - EDEN
EDEN can be seen as an European initiative aimed at:
- improving the role of epidemiology in dermatology
- sharing expertise
- producing high quality work
- contacting isolated groups and encouraging them to join in.
Structure:
this consists of having one specific contact person in each country in Europe and a Steering Group. The contact person will exchange information with the Steering Group and could coordinate local groups. Current contact points were summarized and contacts to the remaining countries will be initiated.
The Steering Group will decide policy and organize meetings, collaboratives studies and newsletter. A chairperson for the steering group, will be in charge for two to three years.
"To stimulate co-operation and high standards of research within dermato-epidemiology. Dermato-epidemiology includes the investigation of causes, prevention, health services research and evaluation of interventions of skin diseases in human populations."
The means by which EDEN will accomplish its aims are:
- Disseminating information by publicizing events, collaborative studies, and workers interested in the field.
- Teaching, sharing and training by means of a main triennial meeting and an annual workshop.
- Working groups which initiate collaborative studies on a multinational basis.
